× Asthma is defined as a chronic pulmonary inflammation disease and it is one of the ten major causes of pain and mortality in Indonesia. The administration of some types of medicine is the pharmacological therapy which needs to be conducted in the medication to decrease the pain level of asthma. The objective of this research is to investigate the pattern of the use of drugs of the adult clients aged 18 up to 65 who suffer from asthma and are hospitalized in the in-patient installation of dr. Moewardi Local General Hospital from January to December of 2010. This research used the non-experimental and non-analytical descriptive method. The data of this research consisted of the data of the patients and the data of the therapy management. The data were gathered through the medical record archives which were collected retrospectively. The data were then processed by using the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 program and analyzed by using the descriptive statistic method. The results of this research are as follows: 1) the number of clients aged 18 up to 65 who were diagnosed to suffer from asthma without any accompanying disease and without recurrence is 43; 2) the drugs which were used for the therapy against asthma consist of corticosteroid type (20.61%), bronchodilator type (14.47%), the combination of two brochodilator types (19.48%), antibiotics (21.49%), mucolytic type (10.53%), and expectorant type (14.04%); and 3) the right drug (42.97%) and the right dosage (7.02%) have been used in this research in accordance with the standards of NAEPP (National Asthma Education and Prevention Program) of 2007.
