×The purpose of this research is to improve reading comprehension skill child stories on the fifth grade students of Elementary School 02 Tuban. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The experiment was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four phases: planning, implementation of the action, observation, and reflection. Subjects were the fifth grade students of elementary school 02 Tuban, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar totaling 37 students. The sources data came from teachers, students, syllabus, lesson plans, and the data value of reading comprehension the fifth grade students. The technique data collection are test, observation, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data using the technique of triangulation of data sources and triangulation methods. Analysis of data using an interactive model analysis techniques Miles and Huberman that has three main components, namely data reduction, presentation of data and drawing conclusions (verification). Procedure of the research is spiral model interrelated one another. The results of research showed that application of SQ3R method can improve the quality of process and quality of product reading comprehension skills of child stories the fifth grade students of elementary school 02 Tuban, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar from phase test prior to first cycle and from first cycle to second cycle. The average value result of the test is 60,67 and the classical learning completeness 41,67%. On the first cycle the average value result of the test rose becomes 72,51 classical learning completeness rose becomes 83,78%. In the second cycle the average value increased to 81,11 by 91,89% classical completeness. The conclusions of this research is the application of SQ3R method can improve reading comprehension skills of child stories on the fifth grade students of Elementary School 02 Tuban, Gondangrejo, Karanganyar on The Academic Year of 2011/2012.
