× The Purpose Of The Research Is To Investigate Whether Or Not Pictures Can Improve Students’ Writing Skill And Class Condition. The Subject Of This Research Is Student Of Class Viii A In Smp N 5 Kebumen. The Research Was Undertaken As A Classroom Action Research In Collaboration With The English Teacher Of Smp N 5 Kebumen. The Action Research Was Conducted In Two Cycles. Each Cycle Consisted Of Four Steps: Planning, Action, Observation And Reflection. To Collect The Qualitative Data, The Researcher Used Field Notes, Photograph And Interview. To Collect The Quantitative Data, The Researcher Conducted Tests. The Tests Were Pre-Test And Post Tests. To Analyze The Qualitative Data, The Researcher Used Interactive Model Data Analysis. There Were 3 Stages Of Analyzing The Qualitative Data: (1) Data Reduction, (2) Data Display (3) Conclusion Drawing And Verifying. For The Quantitative Data, The Researcher Analyzed The Mean Scores Of The Tests To Compare Differences Between Pre-Test And Post-Test. The Result Of The Research Shows That Teaching Writing Skill By Usingpictures Could Improve: (1) The Students’ Writing Skill. The Students Could Make A Descriptive Paragraph With A Good And Well Expanded Content. Their Ideas Also Had Been Better. Then, The Students Had The Ability To Construct Sentences Based On The Grammar. They Also Used Appropriate Vocabularies Dealing With The Topic In Their Writing And Their Mechanics Had Also Been Improved. In General, Students Are Encouraged To Practice Writing As Much As Possible. The Improvements Of The Mean Scores Showed That There Was An Improvement On The Students’ Writing Skill. Thestudents’ Mean Scores Of Pre-Test 51.15, It Improves Upto 63.36in The Post-Test I And Up To 79.68in The Post-Test Ii. Therefore, It Could Be Concluded That Teaching Writing Kill By Using Picture Could Improve The Students’ Writing Skill. (2) Teaching Writing Skill By Using Picture Could Also Improve The Class Condition. It Is Proven By The Students’ Attendance. They Come On Time In English Class. They Always Pay Attention And Keep Listening To The Teacher’s Explanation. Based On The Result Of The Study Above, The Implication Of The Research May Give Some Recommendation As Follows:(1) The Action Research Through Pictures Can Help The Teacher And The Students In Solving The Problems In Writing Descriptive Text. That’s Why The Teacher Has To Do An Action Research So That He/She Can Focus On The Problem Solving. (2) The Using Of Pictures May Solve The Faced Problem; Writing Descriptive Text. Pictures Can Stimulate The Student To Explore Their Ideas. So, The Teacher Can Use Pictures As One Of The Media To Teach Writing Of Descriptive Text. (3) Through Pictures, The Learning Process Becomes More Enjoyable. The Students Become More Enthusiastic In Joining The Lesson. It Can Support The Learning Acquisition
