Abstrak : ABSTRAK 2007. This final project was written based o n the job training done by the writer as an English teacher in SMP Negeri 1 Teras for a month. The purposes were to know and to understand the English teaching and learning process in SMP Negeri 1 Teras, including the difficulties faced by the students and by the teacher during the English teaching and learning process, and to find the solutions for those difficulties. 
During the job training, the writer took some activities such as observation in the class and taught the English lesson. In the class observation, the writer observed the condition of the class includes the condition of the students. In the English teaching and learning process, the writer used some steps in order to make the English teaching and learning process run well. The steps covered brainstorming, explanation, and exercises. After all the materials were given to the students, the writer gave test in order to know that the students comprehend of the topic given.
There were some problems were faced both by the students and by the teacher. The problems of the students were wrong opinion about the English lesson that was English as a complicated lesson, the student’s lazy felling, the English speaking skill and applying the proper tenses. Meanwhile, the problems of the teacher were making the students familiar with English, passive class and playful students. The writer also presented the solutions to solve the problems such as the teacher motivated the students in learning 
English, gave some exercises and home works after the lesson, invited and guided the students to speak in English, and gave clear and systematic explanation. Moreover, the teacher reminded the students to use English when they want to answer the questions given by the teacher, gave more activities to the students, and gave the students games in learning English.
