×This Thesis Aims At (1) Finding Out Whether The Talk-Show Strategy Can Improve Vocabulary In Students‘ English Speaking Skill (2) How Is The Class Situation While Talk-Show Strategy Is Implemented In The Third Semester Students Of English Language Education Program Muhammadiyah University Prof. Dr. Hamka. From The Preliminary Observation Showed That The Students‘ Problem Is The Vocabulary In Speaking Skill. One Of The Main Factors Is Because The Vocabulary Subject Firstly Taught In The Third Semester. The Research Was Done Inmuhammadiyah University Prof. Dr. Hamka Jakarta In 2012-2013 Academic Yearfrom October 23, 2012 To December 4, 2012. The Subject Of The Research Was The Third Semester Students Of English Language Education Program Consisting Of 6 Males And 17 Females. The Researcher Conducted The Classroom Action Research To Solve The Problems Above. This Research Was Done In Three Cycles And Each Cycle Had Four Meetings. There Were Four Steps In Conducting This Research. There Were Planning, Acting, Observing, And Acting. In Collecting Data, There Were Two Kinds Of Data Which Is Used In This Research, The Quantitative And Qualitative Data. The Quantitative Data Were In The Form Of Students‘ Score From The Pre-Test, Post-Test 1, 2, 3 Scores. The Data Were Taken From The Oral Test. While For The Qualitative Data Were Collected From: Observation, Interview, Questioner, Field Note, And Diary. The Quantitative Data Were Analyzed By Using Descriptive Statistics. It Compared The Pre-Test Score Or Before Implementing The Strategy And The Score Of Post-Test 1, 2, And 3 After Implementing The Strategy. The Qualitative Data Were Analyzed By Constant Comparative Method Which Involved: Comparing Incidents Applicable To Each Category, Integrating Categories And Their Properties, Delimiting The Theory, And Writing The Theory.
The Research Findings Showed That By Implementing The Talk-Show Strategy In Speaking Class, There Were Some Improvements Which Can Be Classified Into Two Main Points As Follows: (1) The Improvement Of Students‘ Vocabulary In Speaking Skill; (A) The Average Score In Word Meaning 74,16, (B) Pronunciation 71,95, And (C) Word In Use 71,49 (2) The Improvement Of Students‘ Class Situation: (A) All The Students‘ Can Participate In Learning Process By Taking Role In Talk-Show (B) The Improvement Of Students‘ Interest, Based On The Post-Questionnaire The Students Were Enjoy Doing Their Talk-Show And The Class Atmosphere Was Fun And Enjoyable.
In Conclusion, The Implementing Talk-Show Strategy Can Improve The Vocabulary In Students‘ Speaking Skill. Briefly, It Is Recommended To Teachers,
Lecturer, Or Educators To Use Talk-Show Strategy To Improve The Students‘
