× This research aimed to find out: the description of long distance caring pattern applied to the adolescents in SMA Negeri 1 Girimarto; the adolescent self-concept establishment in SMA Negeri 1 Girimarto and the relationship of long distance care pattern applied to the adolescent with self-concept establishment in SMA Negeri 1 Girimarto. This study was a fenomenology research attempting to describe the condition of informant as the way it is. This study used the adolescents studying at SMA Negeri 1 Girimarto and cared using long distance pattern as the sample. The data was collected using interview method for primary data and the existing data from the school for secondary data. The data obtained was collected using flow model of analysis encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Considering the data obtained, it could be concluded that: Caring pattern applied by parents was by trusting the family and establishing intensive communication; there were two socialization forms in this research: controlled and bound socializations. Parent applied reward in the form of valuable good or praise to the achievement the adolescent had reached as the form of appreciation and punishment in the form of pocket money reduction for the mistake or violation committed. A dynamic self-concept establishment was established within the adolescents having good relationship with parents or primary family, while closed self-concept occurred within those having no good relationship with parents or primary family. The primary family’s attention contributed to the establishment of adolescent self-concept as well, because the adolescents felt as being appreciated and they needed a role model they can see directly, and the adolescents living separately from the parents were accustomed to cope with their problems themselves.
