× This research focuses on the analysis of ecological terms translation in an article from National Geographic Magazine entitled “Wolf War” by Douglas H Chadwick. The purposes of this research are (1) to find out the types of translation techniques applied by the translator in translating the ecological terms, (2) to describe how the translation techniques influence the translation quality in terms of accuracy and acceptability. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method which employs purposive sampling. All of the data are ecological terms found in an article from National Geographic Magazine entitled “Wolf War” by Douglas H Chadwick. The total data of the ecological terms translation found are 90 data. The other data were taken through questionnaires distributed to three raters. The finding of the research shows that there are ten techniques applied by translator in translating the ecological terms in the article from National Geographic Magazine entitled “Wolf War”. They are established equivalent (38 data or 42.22%), borrowing (17 data or 18.89%), calque (9 data or 10%), generalization (8 data or 8.89%), particularization (7 data or 7.78%), amplification (4 data or 4.44%), reduction (3 data or 3.33%), modulation (2 data or 2.22%), adaptation (1 data or 1.11%) and linguistic compression (1 data or 1.11%). The analysis on the translation accuracy shows that 81 data (90.00 %) of the total data are accurate, 8 data (8.89 %) are less accurate and just 1 data (1.11%) is inaccurate. The analysis on the translation acceptability shows that 80 data (88.89%) are acceptable, 9 data (10.00%) are less acceptable and 1 data (1.11%) is unacceptable. The translation technique resulted in translations with high level of accuracy transalation is established equivalent while the technique resulted in translations with low level of accuracy translation is modulation. The translation technique resulted in translations with high level of acceptability transalation is established equivalent while the translation technique resulted in translations with low level of acceptability translation is borrowing.
