The Roles Of Guide To Develop Tourism  In Mangkunegaran Palace

× The final project report was written based on the job training which was done in Mangkunegaran Palace for a month in March 2013. The objectives were to describe the roles of guide in Mangkunegaran Palace, to investigate the guiding problems, and to find the solutions of guiding problems in Mangkunegaran Palace. The data of the report were collected by observing and interviewing staffs, guides, and tourists in Mangkunegaran Palace. From the discussion, it could be concluded that the roles of guide is to give guidance, lead the tour, and give explanation about the palace. The guiding problems are lack of discipline, lack of professionalism, lack of language skill, short open hours, lack of promotion, and limited fund. The solutions of guiding problems are making written rules, improving the quality of human resources, conducting guide training, maximizing the open hours, improving promotion, and making cooperation with related institutions. Therefore, it is suggested that Mangkunegaran Palace management provide leaflet, brochure, and website in order to give update information about the palace. Besides, Mangkunegaran Palace management should have concern to solve the problems in order to improve the service quality.
