Teaching english vocabulary for the 5rd grade  students  in SD N 2 Teras  Boyolali

× In language teaching, vocabulary is very important. It is one of the main keys in learning foreign language. There are two objectives in this final project, the methods used in teaching vocabulary and the difficulties faced by the writer in teaching vocabulary. There are two methods used in teaching vocabulary, namely direct methods and grammar translation methods. The writer used mother tongue to make them understand easier simple new words and know the meaning of each new word. The application of this methods is based on the materials available on the text book. The students are asked to read, to write, to listen, to and make sentences, so they can understand about what they are learning. The writer found some problems during the job training. They came from students and the writer. The student’s problems were difficulties in memorizing new words and difficulties in pronouncing words. The teacher’s problems were lack of time and faced passive students. They just look confused and keep silent. The writer give the solution of the problem in teaching vocabulary, and the writer hopes this final project can make the variety of ways in teaching and learning activities. And it can create good relationship between teacher and students.
