×This research is aimed at finding out: (1) whether SAVI is more effective than Direct Instruction method in teaching speaking for the second grade students of SMK PSM 1 Kedunggalar Kabupaten Ngawi in Academic year of 2013/2014; (2) whether the second grade students of SMK PSM 1 Kedunggalar Kabupaten Ngawi in Academic year of 2013/2014 who have high creativity have better speaking ability than those having low creativity; and (3) whether there is interaction between teaching methods and creativity in teaching speaking for second grade students of SMK PSM 1 Kedunggalar Kabupaten Ngawi in Academic year of 2013/2014.
The research method is experimental research that was carried out about one month for eight meetings. In collecting data, the researcher used test for speaking ability and creativity. The technique of the data analysis is ANOVA two ways factorial design and Tukey test.
Based on the result of this research, the findings are: (1) SAVI is more effective than Direct Instruction Method. Students taught by using SAVI have better speaking ability than students taught by using Direct Instruction Method; (2) there is no significant difference of speaking ability between students who have high creativity and students who have low creativity for second grade students of Vocational High School PSM I Kedunggalar in the academic year 2013/2014; and (3) there is interaction between two variables, teaching methods and students’ creativity for second grade students of Vocational High School PSM I Kedunggalar in the academic year 2013/2014.
Finally research findings imply that SAVI is an effective method to teach in the speaking to the second grade students of SMK PSM 1 Kedunggalar, Ngawi in the academic year 2013/2014.
