Synthesis of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) anatase and fabrication Dye sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) using anthocyanin based natural dye from purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) as a photosensitizer has been done. Synthesis of TiO2 solution was conducted at pH 3 and the calcination temperature was varied of 500oC , 550oC and 600oC . All the TiO2 powders have an anatase phase. Based on the analysis of the X-ray Diffraction patterns and surface area , if the higher of calcination temperature has larger the intensity of the crystal but smaller surface area and pore size. Solar cells were fabricated by sandwich which a polymer electrolyte containing a redox couple I-/I3- . The first layer was coated of anatase TiO2 layer as the working electrode on a glass substrate TCO (Transparent Conducting Oxide) sensitization with anthocyanin dye purple sweet potato and the counter electrode in the form of a layer of carbon . The DSSC was fabricated by soaking in the dye with pH 1 for 24 hours has the best electrical and optical properties. These cells were tested using a Keithley IV 1009 W/m2 intensity, the efficiency of each cell at a calcination temperature of 500oC, 550oC and 600oC was 0.0095 % , 0.016 % , and 0.014 % respectively. While the intensity of irradiation 2006 W/m2 produced an efficiency of 0.013 % , 0.023 % , 0.018 % respectively. The results show that the DSSC was fabricated using a TiO2 powder calcinated at a temperature of 550oC has the highest efficiency.
