× The aim of this research was to find out whether meaningful drilling activities can improve students’ pronunciation skill. This research was conducted in the first grade of SMA Negeri 1 Boyolali in academic year 2012/2013 from 9th – 25th May 2013. This research was done to improve the students’ pronunciation skill. In this case, the researcher applied a new technique which was meaningful drilling. The subjects of this study were X.2 class with 32 students. This research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher worked with the English teacher as the collaborative teacher. The data of this research were collected through observation, interview, speaking test (pre-test and post-test), field note and documentation. The writer employed qualitative and quantitative analysis to process the data. The qualitative data were based on the observation of students’ activities in the classroom and the interview, while the quantitative data were taken from the speaking test. The result of the data analysis showed that the use of meaningful drilling activity could improve the students’ pronunciation skill. The result of the students’ pronunciation skill was as follows: the mean of pre test was 66.81, the mean of post test in cycle 1 was 75.03, and the mean of the post test in cycle 2 was 82.47. Then, it was supported by the observation and interview result which showed that the students gave positive responses to the implementation of the meaningful drilling and they enjoyed joining the teaching learning process. Consequently, meaningful drilling method as an activity in pronunciation class can improve the students’ pronunciation skill and the class climate.
