× The objectives of the research are: (1) to identify whether or not videos can motivate students‟ motivation in learning English (2) to describe the difficulties of using videos in English class. This action research is carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali which is conducted from August 2013 up to October 2013. The subject of the research is the students of class X IPS 1. The research is conducted in two cycles, in which in the first cycle there are three meetings and three meetings in the second cycle. It is optimized the used of videos as the media to enhance students‟ motivation in learning English. The qualitative data are collected through observation, interview, researcher diary and questionnaire. The quantitative data are collected using test. These data were compared and analyzed to get a conclusion as the result of this research. The research findings show that the use of video can improve students‟ motivation in learning English. The improvement of students‟ motivation include: (1) The students become brave to answer teacher‟s question, they become more confident; (2) The students were more active to ask about the lesson what they did not understand; (3) The students have a desire to be success in learning English; (4) The students understand with their goal in learning English; (5) The students become diligent and show their effort in learning English. Furthermore, the difficulties of using videos in English class include: (1) Technical problems; (2) Most of students cannot catch up with the speed of the speaker. It was too fast for the students; (3) Students just concentrated on the video but they forgot with the assignment; (4) The sound systems available in school were limited. In addition, the students mean score were also improve which can be seen from their reading mean score of pre-test, post test in cycle 1, and cycle 2, that is 45, 13; 73, 93 and 78,80. The last mean score is higher than KKM which is 75.00. Finally, it can be concluded that the use of videos can enhance the students‟ motivation in learning English. I hope that teachers, students, school, and other people that related to this research considering the advantages of video and the importance of motivation in teaching learning activity. I also hope that this research will be useful for every people.
