× This final project report is written based on the writer’s job training activity as an English teacher in SDN Plesan 01 from 02 February 2013 until 02 May 2013. The objectives were to describe the type and the sources of pictures, to describe the stages of teaching vocabulary by using pictures and to describe the benefits, problems and solutions of using pictures in teaching vocabulary. In doing the job training the writer did the class observation, made the lesson plans, and applied the lesson plans in teaching vocabulary activities. The type of pictures that the writer used was flashcards, the pictures were taken from Internet, newspapers and colouring book for children. The process of using pictures in teaching vocabulary consists of three steps: pictures for introducing the topic, pictures for practicing the skills and pictures for recalling the vocabulary. The writer finds out the benefits of using pictures in teaching vocabulary, they are easy to prepare and to organize, interesting and meaningful. The writer also finds out the problems encountered by the writer as the English teacher, in providing the suitable pictures for the students. Some of the pictures are not colorful, the students were not familiar to the pictures and the pictures were not cartoon. The students can not pronounce the words and spell the words correctly. To solve those problems the writer also gave the solutions. To find appropriate pictures, the writer searched the pictures from some sources. To solve problems related to the students mispronounciations and misspelling, the writer guides the students to repeat in pronouncing the word, writing the vocabularies on the blackboard, then inviting the students to spell the word correctly together.
