×Graphic organizers is visual information media that gives clear illustration
about the content of the material. It helps the students to understand the content easier
and organize the topics and ideas connected to prior knowledge to new information
learned. The objectives of the study are to examine: (1) whether graphic organizers is
more effective than picture to teach speaking, (2) whether the students who have high
creativity have better speaking skill than students who have low creativity, and (3)
whether there is an interaction between teachings media and students’ creativity in
teaching speaking.
The independent variable of this experimental research is graphic organizer,
picture media, and students’ creativity and the dependent variable is speaking skill.
The population is eleventh grade students of State Senior High School Ngawi in
academic year of 2013/2014. In collecting data, the researcher used test for speaking
skill and creativity. The technique of the data analysis is ANOVA two way test
design.
The data analysis shows that; (1) Graphic organizer is more effective than
picture to teach speaking skill for eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1
Ngawi, East Java in the academic year 2013/2014, (2) The students who have high
creativity have better speaking skill than students who have low creativity, and (3)
There is no interaction between teaching media and students’ creativity in teaching
speaking skill for eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1 Ngawi, East Java
in the academic year of 2013/2014.
From the result of the study, it can be concluded that graphic organizers is an
effective teaching media to teach speaking at the eleventh grade students of Senior
High School 1 Ngawi, East Java in the academic year of 2013/2014. It is suggested to
the English teacher to use graphic organizers in teaching speaking. It helps the
students to organize the ideas and its supporting information clearly.
