× This research aims to identify the translation techniques used by a DVD translator and an Internet translator in translating third-person pronouns in the movie Step Up 3D and to compare the accuracy and acceptability of third-person pronoun translation in the movie. This research is called a descriptive study because the researcher describes the phenomenon happened in the third-person pronoun translations taken from the DVD and the Internet. The sources of data of this research are the Step Up 3D movie script and the subtitle from the Internet. The data of this research are the third-person pronoun found in the Step Up 3D movie and their translation both from the DVD and the Internet, the translation techniques in translating third-person pronoun and the information and score that were given by the raters in assessing the accuracy and the acceptability. There are 136 data analyzed in this study from each version. The finding shows that the DVD translator uses four translation techniques. They are literal translation (113 data), discursive creation (1 data), particularization (10 data), and deletion (12 data). Dealing with the accuracy category, 122 data belong to accurate translation (89.71%), 2 data belong to less accurate translation (1.48%), and 12 data belong to inaccurate translation (8.82%). In the acceptability category, 125 data belong to acceptable translation (91.91%), 6 data belongs to less acceptable translation (4.41%), and 5 data belong to unacceptable translation (3.68%). The literal translation is mostly produced accurate and acceptable translation. In addition, to produce inaccurate and unacceptable translation the DVD translator uses deletion. On the other hand, the Internet translator uses four translation techniques as well. They are literal translation (59 data), discursive creation (12 data), particularization (42 data), and deletion (23 data). Dealing with the accuracy category, 110 data belong to accurate translation (73.53%), 5 data belong to less accurate translation (3.68%), and 31 data belong to inaccurate translation (22.80%). Furthermore, in the acceptability category, 110 data belong to acceptable translation (80.88%), 13 data belong to less acceptable translation (9.56%), and 13 data belong to unacceptable translation (9.56%). The literal translation is mostly used to produce an accurate and acceptable translation. Thus, deletion translation is resulting in inaccurate and unacceptable translation. The result of the comparative analysis shows that the DVD translator is more accurate and acceptable than the Internet version.
