× This research is conducted to answer the questions of: (1) how are the sociological aspects of the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s?; (2) how is the social and cultural background of the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s?; (3) how are the gender equality and justice contained in the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s?; and (4) how are the education values contained in the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s? The objective of this research is to investigate: (1) the sociological aspects of the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s; (2) the social and cultural background of the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s; (3) the gender equality and justice contained in the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s; and (4) the education values contained in the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s. This research used the qualitative research method and content analysis technique. The data of this research were gathered from the novels with the title of Saman written by Ayu Utami, Jendela-jendela written by Fira Basuki, Tarian Bumi written by Oka Rusmini, and Mahadewa Mahadewi written by Nova Riyanti Yusuf all of which contained gender issues. The data were gathered through document and validated by using the theory trianggulation in which more than one theory were used in discussing the problems studied in this research. The data were then analyzed by using the interactive model of analysis with three components, namely: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this research are as follows: (1) the four Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s, namely: Ayu Utami, Fira Basuki, Oka Rusmini, and Nova Riyanti Yusuf, are highly educated with broad mind and they come from high social status as well as live in metropolitan cities with modern lifestyle. They have a strong will to convey the ideological concept of women on other women by having such a social background. It is stated in the novels that women have an equal view on the world with men; (2) the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s through the female characters of their novels break the concepts on morality attached to women by men by equalizing the self concept and moral system between men and women through the point of view of the women themselves; (3) the gender equality and justice are contained in the novels written by the Indonesian female authors which are characterized with the harmonious relation between men and women, equal opportunity for employment for both male and female characters of the novel, and none of violence against either men or women, except in Tarian Bumi written by Oka Rusmini; and (4) the education values related to religious, moral, social, and aesthetic aspects as well as gender are contained in all of the novels written by the Indonesian female authors in the era of 2000s.
