× The objectives of the research are to investigate whether: (1) Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) is more effective than Audiolingual Method (ALM) to teach speaking for students of Training Institution DUTA PERSADA Surakarta in the Academic Year of 2013/2014; (2) students with high creativity have better speaking skill than the students with low creativity; (3) there is an interaction effect between teaching techniques and the students’ creativity on the students speaking skill. The research method applied in this research was an experimental research. The population of the research was Informatics students of Training Institution DUTA PERSADA Surakarta in the Academic Year of 2013/2014 consisting of five classes. The samples were two classes. Each of classes consisted of 20 students. The samples were taken by using cluster random sampling technique. The experimental class was taught by using TBLT, while the control class was taught using ALM. The data were obtained from creativity test and speaking test. The data from speaking scores were collected after the students had eight times treatment for each group. The researcher analyzed the data using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and Tukey test. The research findings are: (1) TBLT is more effective than ALM to teach speaking for Informatics students of Training Institution DUTA PERSADA Surakarta; (2) the speaking skill of the students having high creativity is better than that of the students having low creativity; and (3) there is an interaction between teaching methods and students’ creativity in teaching speaking. For students who have high creativity, TBLT is more effective than ALM, but for the students who have low creativity, ALM is more effective than TBLT.
