× Bengawan Solo River are one of the most popular and important river in Java. Many people used the water of this river for many allocation especially for 2nd and 3rd class of water. Today, Bengawan Solo facing problem from the growth of industrial and population residence blooming in riverbank. This problem caused an increasing of water pollution and threathened human health around it. The main objectives of this research is to measuring Bengawan Solo River water quality condition at present, especially in chemical parameters and assuming the major human activities which gives greater amount of water pollution in Bengawan Solo River. From the objective, this research should gave and contributed any recommendation to manage the water quality in Bengawan Solo River. Domestic source was assuming as one of the biggest pollutant contributor in Bengawan Solo. This opinion based on the fact that was many low-medium level residence in riverbank area. Mostly of this type residence had the same problem from poor sanitation system. The research sample has located at river path of Bengawan Solo in Surakarta. There was three location of sample, under Bacem Bridge (1st station), under Mojo Bridge (2nd station) and under Jurug Bridge (3rd station). Followed the objectives, parameters of research had been focussing at chemical and biological parameters. The sample has taken at one time in February. Water sample from every station has taken by composite three type of depth. The result of calculation for pollution level with STORET method shows the moderately-polluted status. Generally the chemical parameter is still below the standard quality, but its score still potentially increases and exceeds the standard quality in the future. Based on the research, the domestic waste sector is considered as one of contributors to the pollution in Bengawan Solo; it can be seen from the relatively high value of variable indicator. Specifically, this domestic waste originates from the poor sanitation system among the society
