English Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. 2014. This research aims at describing varieties of errors of verb forms made by the eleventh grades students of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta. In addition, this study is to find the source of errors. This study is a descriptive one and is followed by 23 students as the subject of the research. The data are students errors which are collected through test and interview. The sampling technique employed in this research is purposive sampling and there are 23 students sitting in the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta who participate. Steps to analyze data are identifying error, describing error and explaining error. This research result in finding 222 errors of verb forms made by the students. This errors can be classified into five categories; (1) 26 addition,(2) 150 misformation,(3) 2 misordering,(4) 26 omission, and (5)18 combination of error. The source of errors are interlingual error and intralingual error. The analysis found 59 intralingual errors and 163 interlingual errors. The study can be used by the teacher to measure the student capability and understanding in accepting English language learning. Beside, this result gives information for the teacher about the errors type and factor which often occur. This research finding implies that teacher needs to determine proper method and technique of teaching to avoid error.
