×This Thesis Aims To Describe (1) Whether And To What Extent The Use Of Video Can Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery In Reading Narrative Text; (2) Whether And To What Extent The Use Of Video Can Improve The Classroom Climate; And (3) The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Video When It Is Used To Teach Reading Narrative Text.
This Action Research Study Is Carried Out At Mts Negeri 2 Paron Ngawi, In Grade Viiie. This Research Was Carried Out In 2 Cycles. Every Cycle Consisted Of Four Steps: Planning, Implementing, Observing, And Reflecting. The Qualitative Data Were Collected By Using Techniques Of Observation, Interview, Documentation, And Questionnaire, While Quantitative Data Were Collected By Using Test (Pre-Test And Post-Test). The Qualitative Data Are Analyzed Through Descriptive Analysis Which Consisted Of Assembling The Data, Coding The Data, Comparing The Data, Building Interpretation, And Reporting The Outcomes. The Quantitative Data Were Analyzed Through Descriptive Statistics.
The Research Findings Show That Video Can Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery In Reading Narrative Text And Classroom Climate. Related To The Improvement Of Vocabulary Mastery, It Includes: (1) All Students Can Spell English Words Better; (2) The Students Can Pronounce English Words Well; (3) Students Can Grasp The Meaning Of Words Well; (4) Students Can Construct Sentences Properly. The Students’ Mean Score Of Vocabulary Mastery Improved From 58.27 To 75.22 In The End Of Cycle 2. The Mean Score Of Reading Narrative Text Also Improves From 57.45 To 73.64. Meanwhile, The Improvement Of Classroom Climate Is Indicated From: (1) Reading Activities Are Not So Monotonous; (2) The Class Becoming An Active Class; And (2) The Students Are Able To Follow The Teaching And Learning Process Well.
In Conclusion, The Use Of Video Can Enhance The Students’ Vocabulary Mastery In Reading Narrative Text And The Situation In Reading Class. Video Is A Teaching Media That Benefits For Both The Students’ Achievement And The Students’ Learning Interest.
