Reflection Of Their Beliefs. Teachers’ Beliefs Are Something That Unobservable But
They Can Be Represented By Teachers’ Knowledge, Attitude, Individual Choices (Such
As Plan: Assess, Judge, Accept Or Deny), Understanding And Behaviors In Classroom.
Beliefs Also Way Of How Teachers See The World Around Them And They Influence
Their Thought And Lead Them To Behave In Classroom Activity.
The Objectives Of The Research Are: (1) To Find Out And Describe About
Teacher’s Beliefs; (2) To Find Out And Describe The Factors That Influence Teacher’s
Beliefs; (3) To Find Out And Describe The Relationship Between Teacher’s Beliefs In
Grammar To The Grammar Teaching Practice.
This Study Was Qualitative Case Study And The Subject Was An Experienced
Teacher In SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta. Experienced Teacher Refers To The Time Of Her
Teaching Experience, As The Teacher Had Been Teaching For Fifteen Years. The Data
Were Collected By Using In-Depth Interview With Teacher And Students And Passive
Participant Observation. The Data Were Analyzed Using Qualitative Data Analysis By
Miles And Huberman (1994). There Are Three Steps Of Qualitative Data Analysis;
They Are (1) Data Reduction, (2) Data Display, And (3) Conclusion Drawing And
Verification.
The Result Of The Research Shows That The Teacher Had Some Pedagogical
Issues Related With Beliefs About Grammar And Beliefs About Teaching Grammar.
This Research Also Describes The Sources Of The Teacher’s Beliefs And Describes The
Teacher’s Grammar Teaching Practices. The Research Reveals That Beliefs Influence
Grammar Teaching Practices
The Research Suggests That Teachers’ Beliefs Are Strongly Influence To Their
Teaching Practice, For That Reason This Is Essential To Consider The Area Of Teacher
Cognition Especially In Indonesian Context As We Know The Number Of This Sort Of
Research Is In Few.
