×With the outstanding advancement of electromechanical system working area, the induction motor has been applied in the great numbers of electronic devices because of its easy operation, torque regulation, ability to connected directly to the AC source, low cost maintenance, rugged in nature and durability. However, one of the main disadvantages of induction motors is that speed control of induction motor is difficult. Hence, the objectives of this study was to the implementation of speed control of single phase induction motor using AT89C51 microcontroller based on variable frequency power inverter where microcontroller resorts the variable frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) signal that controls the applied voltage on the gate drive, which supports the required PWM frequency at the output of the power inverter. In fact, the fully controlled bridge voltage source has been materialized with semiconductor power devices isolated gate bipolar transistor, and the PWM technique has been introduced in this converter to supply the motor with AC voltage. Afterwards, the single phase variable frequency inverter was simulated using Matlab/Simulink software. In the end, the data revealed that the experimental speed, 2979 rpm gained the most proximate speed to simulation speed , 3000 rpm and showed least error only 0.7%. Furthermore, a proficient proximity was established between the simulation and hardware of a microcontroller based single phase inverter.
