×This thesis aims to identify (1) whether and to what extent Facebook can improve the students‟ writing skill in analytical exposition text and (2) the situation when Facebook is implemented in the writing class. The classroom action research was carried out in SMA Widya Wacana Surakarta in class XI IPA collaboratively with one of English teacher in that school. This research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four steps: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. To collect the qualitative data, the researcher used technique of observation, interview, questionnaire and document while to collect the quantitative data, the researcher conducted tests (pre-test and post-test). The qualitative data were analyzed by using Constant Comparative Method. There were four steps to analyze the qualitative data: (1) comparing data, (2) integrating categories, (3) delimiting the theory, and (4) writing the theory. For the quantitative data the researcher analyzed the data through descriptive analysis to find and to compare the mean scores of the tests. The result of the research showed that Facebook could improve the students‟ writing skill and classroom situation. Through Facebook, the students showed their improvement in writing aspects, they are: content, organization, grammar, vocabulary and mechanics. Meanwhile the improvement of classroom situation was indicated from great interest to actively involve and participate in the teaching and learning process because they were interested to study writing through Facebook. In conclusion, implementing Facebook can improve the students‟ writing skill in analytical exposition text and the situation in writing class. In the other words, Facebook gives benefits for students to achieve better result in writing and make them interested in writing class.
