This study aimed: (1) to describe the teacher’s understanding on Osing local wisdom in Banyuwangi, (2) to describe the implementation of Osing local wisdom in Banyuwangi in Social Science Learning in Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Cluring (First Public Elementary School) of Cluring Sub District of Banyuwangi Regency, (3) to describe the evaluation of osing local wisdom-based Social Science learning in Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Cluring of Cluring Sub District of Banyuwangi Regency, (4) to describe the constraints in the process of implementing the Osing local wisdom in Social Science learning in SDN 1 Cluring.
This study was taken place in SDN 1 Cluring of Banyuwangi Regency. The data sources used were Social Science teachers, place and event, namely SDN 1 Cluring of Banyuwangi Regency, and document used was school document including syllabus, RPP (learning implementation plan), teaching book, and cultural observers of Banyuwangi. Techniques of collecting data used were interview, document study, and observation. Data validity used was source triangulation, while the technique of analyzing data used was an interactive model of analysis encompassing three components: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The three components were conducted interactively and sustainably.
This study concluded that: (1) the Social Science teachers had understood Osing local wisdom, although a deeper understanding was required, (2) the implementation of Osing Local Wisdom in Social Science subject had run well, but more creativity was required from a teacher in order to explore the local wisdom varyingly as the source of Social Science material, (3) the evaluation on Osing local wisdom-based Social Science learning was conducted in three approaches: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, and (4) the constraints in the implementation of Osing local wisdom in Social Science learning included firstly the few number of teachers understanding Osing local wisdom, because the teacher defined Osing only as language and ethnic (race). Secondly, teacher’s inadequate creativity in integrating osing local wisdom into Social Science Learning, in which the teacher emphasized more on existing syllabus and RPP without innovation by attempting to related it to local wisdom.
