The increasing of technologies makes the extreme changing in this era so the use of ICT in school is a must in order to make a high level education. Especially in SMP Negeri in Wonogiri, the use of ICT is in minimum level. The goal of this research is to describe and analyze the use, the problem and the effectiveness of ICT in teaching and learning in SMP. The research was taken place in SMP Negeri 1 Wonogiri, starting from July –October 2013, by using descriptive qualitative research. The sources of the data are informants, place, events and documents. Observation, interview and find out the information from the documents are the methods to collecting the data. Collecting the data was done in three steps, they are orientation, exploration and member check. To get the validity of the data, the researcher use triangulation, auditing and informants review. Data analysis in this qualitative research are data reduction, data presentation, take the conclusion and verifications. After the research, the researcher found that the use of ICT in teaching and learning in SMP Negeri 1 Wonogiri is based on UNESCO level ( in emerging, applying and transforming ). The problems that was found by the researcher are in human and non-human. The effectiveness is effective enough. Of course, there are any problems there but it could be taken over easily. The suggestions for the principal are realizing the important of the use of ICT in school, increasing the use of ICT in teaching and learning, should have problems solving in the use of ICT and always use the ICT in daily activities at school. For the teacher, they should realizing the important of the use of ICT in teaching and learning, increasing the knowledge and the skill in using ICT, have a capability to solve the problems in the use of ICT and using ICT in teaching and learning. The advantages for the students are they could enjoy the teaching and learning in class and easily catch the lesson, they could solve the problems in learning the lesson by using the ICT, they could use the ICT effectively and by using the ICT in teaching and learning, of course, they will try hard to increase the knowledge and the skill in using the ICT.
