Pendahuluan: Koinfeksi HBV sering ditemukan pada penderita HIV dan meningkatkan mortalitas dan morbiditas pasien, namun belum ada data terkait status koinfeksi HBV pada komunitas pasien HIV di Rumah Sakit Umum Dr. Moewardi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui status koinfeksi HBV pada pasien HIV di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Dr. Moewardi di Surakarta.
Metodologi: Lima puluh satu sampel plasma yang diperoleh dari 51 pasien HIV di VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Testing) Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Dr. Moewardi di Surakarta diperiksa secara molekuler untuk HBV dengan PCR nested. Sebagian gen HBsAg diamplifikasi. Produk PCR disekuensing dan dianalisis secara molekuler.
Hasil: DNA HBV terdeteksi dalam 3.9% (2/51) sampel. Semua isolat HBV diidentifikasi sebagai genotipe B3 dan subtipe adw2.
Kesimpulan: Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya pemeriksaan rutin HBV pada pasien HIV.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Co-infection with HBV (hepatitis B virus) is common among the HIV infected individuals and increases the mortality and morbidity rate of the patients; however, there are no data of the HBV co-infection status in the Dr. Moewardi General Hospital HIV patient community. The aim of the present study was to investigate HBV co-infection status in HIV patients in Dr. Moewardi General Hospital in Surakarta. Methodology: Fifty-one plasma samples obtained from 51 HIV patients in VCT (voluntary counseling and testing) in Moewardi General Hospital in Surakarta were subjected for molecular detection of HBV by nested PCR. A portion of the HBsAg gene was amplified. The amplicons were sequenced and molecular analyzed. Results: HBV DNA was detected in 3.9% (2/51) samples. All HBV isolates were identified as genotype B3 subtype adw2. Conclusion: This study highlights the need to perform routine detection of HBV infection in HIV patients.
