ABSTRACT
The purposes of the research were to know: (1) the result of each step of the development thermochemistry module based on problem solving for class XI of SMA/MA students according to curriculum 2013 (2) the feasibility of thermochemistry module based on problem solving obtained from validation by experts, practitioners, and the students responses (3) the effectiveness of thermochemistry module based on problem solving for class XI of SMA/MA students according to curriculum 2013.
This study adapted the Borg & Gall development procedures were simplified into nine stages. Initial field test and operational fields test conducted in SMAN 1 Girimarto, SMAN 1 Jatisrono and SMAN 1 Sidoharjo with 16 students subject to initial field test and 154 studens for operational fields. The main field test conducted in SMAN 1 Girimarto with class XI MIA 1 as experiment class and class XI MIA 2 as control class. The feasibility assessment module obtained from validation by experts, practitioners, and the students responses through questionare using ordinal scale from 1 to 5. The effectiveness module is obtained from independent sample t-test of the difference in average gain knowledge test scores, the average assessment skills, and attitudes on the main field test in the experimental class and the control class.
The results of research and development were: (1) the result of each step showed that from preliminary study got information to make teaching materials based on student characters and needs analysis according curriculum 2013 that’s developed thermochemistry module based on the problem solving (2) thermochemistry module based on the problem solving is worthy used for learning class XI SMA/MA semester 1 curriculum 2013 based on validation experts, practitioners, and students with percentage of 83.87% (3) thermochemistry module based on the problem solving effectively improve learning achievement of knowledge, attitudes and skills of students.
