ABSTRAK
Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu: (1) mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah aplikasi model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter; (2) meningkatkan pembelajaran tema sejarah peradaban Indonesia pada kompetensi dasar IPS dengan mengaplikasikan model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter; dan (3) mendeskripsikan kendala dan solusi aplikasi model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran tema sejarah peradaban Indonesia pada kompetensi dasar IPS di kelas V SDN 1 Klapasawit.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) kolaboratif. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama tiga siklus. Sumber data berasal dari peneliti, observer, guru, siswa dan dokumen. Alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah observasi, pedoman wawancara, check list dan tes hasil belajar siswa.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) aplikasi model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran tema sejarah peradaban Indonesia pada kompetensi dasar IPS siswa kelas V SDN 1 Klapasawit tahun ajaran 2014/2015 karena penerapan langkah-langkah model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter dapat berjalan sesuai skenario, (2) aplikasi model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran tema sejarah peradaban Indonesia pada kompetensi dasar IPS siswa kelas V SDN 1 Klapasawit, hal ini dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya hasil pembelajaran tiap siklus. Pada siklus I siswa yang mencapai KKM sebanyak 67%, pada siklus II persentase meningkat menjadi 88% dan pada siklus III persentase capaian siswa meningkat menjadi 100%, (3) kendala yang muncul dalam pelaksanaan penelitian antara lain: (a) terdapat langkah pembelajaran model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter yang kurang dipahami oleh guru; (b) guru kurang fokus dalam penyampaian materi; dan (c) ada siswa yang masih kurang percaya diri dalam menyampaikan pendapatnya. Solusi yang dapat diambil berdasarkan kendala tersebut antara lain: (a) peneliti mengadakan diskusi dengan guru kelas dan melakukan simulasi yang disaksikan oleh guru kelas sehingga guru kelas mendapat gambaran tentang pelaksanaan aplikasi model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter; (b) peneliti membuat catatan kecil kerangka materi; dan (c) guru lebih memotivasi siswa untuk mengembangkan nilai karakter siswa.
Simpulan penelitian ini adalah aplikasi model ASSURE berbasis pendidikan karakter yang dilaksanakan dengan langkah-langkah yang benar dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran tema sejarah peradaban Indonesia pada kompetensi dasar IPS pada siswa kelas V SDN 1 Klapaswit tahun ajaran 2014/2015.

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe the steps in application of ASSURE model based on character education; (2) to improve learning of Indonesian civilization history topic in social science learning by applying ASSURE models based character education; and (3) to describe the constrains and solutions in implementing ASSURE model based on character education in improving learning of Indonesian civilization history theme in basic competence of social science basic competence on the fifth grade students of SDN 1 Klapasawit in the academic year of 2014/2015 .
This research was a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in three cycles. Sources of data were obtained from researchers, observers, students, teachers, and document. Techniques of collecting the data were observation, interview, check list, and test of students' learning outcomes.
The results show that: (1) the application of ASSURE model based on character education can improve learning of Indonesian civilization history topic in basic competence of social science learning of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Klapasawit because it can be conducted with the appropriate scenario; (2) the application of ASSURE model based on character education can improve learning of Indonesian civilization history topic in basic competence of social science learning of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Klapasawit, evidenced by an increase in learning outcomes in each cycle. In cycle I, the percentage of students' learning outcome was 67%; the percentage of students' learning outcome was 88% in cycle II and in cycle III, the percentage of students' learning outcome reached 100%; and (3) the problems arise in learning were: (a) there was lack understanding on steps in applying the ASSURE model based on character education faced by the teachers; (b) the teacher was less focused on the delivery of material; and (c) there were students lacking of self-confidence in delivering their opinions. The solutions that can be taken based on those problems are as follows: (a) the researcher arranges discussion with teachers and performs simulations that attended the class teachers so that they will receive an overview of learning implementation by applying the model of ASSURE based on character education learning; (b) the researcher makes notes of material planning; and (c) the teacher motivates students to develop their character value.
The conclusion of this research is the application of ASSURE model based on character education carried out with the appropriate steps can improve history learning of Indonesian civilization theme in social science learning of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Klapasawit in the academic year of 2014/2015.
