Latar Belakang: Dari data persalinan di RSUD Surakarta, periode 20 Februari 2015 – 3 April 2015 menunjukkan bahwa angka kejadian status gizi ibu hamil buruk 22.5 % dan BBLR 25 %. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara status gizi ibu hamil  berdasarkan indikator LILA dan BBLR.

Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan pendekatan case control. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur variabel yaitu baby scale, KMS Ibu Hamil, dan rekam medik. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 40 subjek, terdiri atas 30 bayi lahir dengan berat normal dan 10 untuk BBLR. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah chi-square, teknik sampling dengan quota sampling.

Hasil:Ibu hamil dengan status gizi buruk 22.5%, gizi baik 77.5%. Kasus BBLR 25%, bukan BBLR 75%. Hasil analisis dengan Fisher’r Exact Test menunjukkan nilai significancy= 0.029 (p<0.05) dan odds ratio (OR) = 6.5.

Simpulan: Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara status gizi ibu hamil dan BBLR di RSUD Surakarta. Ibu hamil dengan status gizi buruk mempunyai kemungkinan 6.5 kali untuk mengalami BBLR dibandingkan status gizi baik.

Background: The delivery data of Local General Hospital of Surakarta for the period of February, 20 th  2015–April 3 rd  2015, show that the incidence of malnutrition of pregnant mothers was 22.5 % and that of infants with low birth weight was 25%.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between nutritional status of pregnant mothers and infants with low birth weight at Local General Hospital of Surakarta.

Method: This research used the analytical observational method with the case control approach. Its variables were measured with baby scale, Toward Health Card of Pregnant Women, and medical record. The samples of research were collected by using the quota sampling. Its subjects were 40, namely: 30 infants with normal birth weight and 10 infants with low birth weight. The data of research were analyzed by using the chi square test.

Result: It was found that 22.5% of the pregnant mothers had malnutrition, and 77.5% had a good nutritional status. In addition, 25% of the infants had a low birth weight and 75% had a normal birth weight. The result of analysis with Fisher’s Exact Test shows that the p-value was 0.029 (p< 0.05) and odds ratio (OR) was 6.5.

Conclusion: There was a significant difference between the nutritional status of pregnant mothers and the incidence of infants with low birth weight at Local General Hospital of Surakarta. The pregnant mothers with malnutrition have the probability of 6.5 larger to have infants with low birth weight than their counterparts with a good nutritional status.
