ABSTRAK
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) Mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap untuk memilih SMK sebagai sekolah lanjutan (2) Mengetahui hambatan yang dialami siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap pada saat dahulu akan memilih SMK (3) Mengetahui solusi dari hambatan yang dialami siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap pada saat dahulu akan memilih SMK.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan jenis studi kasus dengan menggunakan strategi tunggal terpancang. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah informan, tempat dan peristiwa serta dokumen dan arsip. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Uji validitas data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi metode. Sedangkan analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis interaktif.
Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu (1) Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap untuk memilih SMK sebagai sekolah lanjutan adalah (a) Minat (b) Harapan setelah lulus SMK dapat terjun langsung ke dunia kerja dibantu BKK (Bursa Kerja Khusus) (c) Kondisi Ekonomi (d) Bekal Keterampilan (e) Dorongan Orang Tua dan Lingkungan; (2) Hambatan yang dialami siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap pada saat dahulu memilih SMK adalah (a) Proses Seleksi dan Persaingan (b) Kurangnya Pemahaman siswa mengenai jurusan di SMK (c) Biaya; (3) Solusi dari hambatan yang dialami siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap pada saat dahulu memilih SMK adalah (a) Solusi untuk menghadapi proses seleksi dan persaingan adalah Memilih jurusan dengan kapasitas nilai dan Mengoptimalkan nilai tes masuk (b) Solusi untuk mengatasi hambatan kurangnya pemahaman siswa tentang jurusan di SMK adalah mencari informasi melalui brosur dan bertanya langsung pada pihak sekolah dan siswa SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap (c) Solusi untuk mengatasi hambatan biaya adalah memberikan bantuan keringanan biaya dan mengjarkan kewirausahaan melalui business center.

ABSTRACT
The purposes of this research are to: (1) determine the factors that gave an affect to the students of SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap to choose a vocational school (2) know the barriers experienced faced by students of SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap during the first time they hadchoosen a Vocational High School (3) know the solution of barriers experienced by students of SMK Negeri1 Cilacap during the first time they had choosen a vocational school.
The method of this research that had been used was descriptive qualitative method and the type of the case study was used a single-rooted strategy. The technique of taking sample was used a purposive and snowball sampling. The sources of the data used is the informant, places, events as well as documents and archives. The collecting of the data used an interview, an observation, and documentationof analysis. The validity of the data used are triangulation and triangulation methods. While the analysis of the data used is interactive analysis.
The results of this research were: (1) the factors that gave an affect to students of SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap to choose a vocational school as a secondary school were : (a) an interest (b) the hope after graduating SMK to get a job instantly assisted by special job fair(c) Condition of economics(d) Skills of provision (e ) Encouragement of Parents and Environment; (2) the barriers experienced faced by students during the first time they hadchoosen SMK were: (a) process of Selection and Competition (b) lack of knowledge about majoring in SMK (c) Cost; (3) the solution of the barriers experienced faced by students of SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap during the first time they hadchoosen SMK were: (a) The solution to deal with the selection process and the competition is choosing the majors with a rated capacity and optimizing the value of the test in (b) Solutions to overcome barriers to student’s lack of understanding about majoring in SMK is seeking information through brochures and inquire directly at the school and students of SMK Negeri 1 Cilacap (c) The solution to overcome the cost barrier is providing relief assistance expenses and teaching entrepreneurship through business center.
