Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) Untuk mengetahui  peningkatan keaktivan belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS kompetensi dasar atmosfer dan dampaknya terhadap kehidupan   kelas VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura. (2) Untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS kompetensi dasar atmosfer dan dampaknya terhadap kehidupan   kelas VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura.
Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) terdapat 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subyek penelitian  ini  adalah  peserta  didik  kelas  VII  G  semester  genap  SMP  Negeri  1
Kartasura tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 yang berjumlah 32 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi.Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif komparatif dan teknik analisis kritis.
Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu : 1) Penggunaan model pembelajaran Guided Discovery-Inquiry dapat meningkatkan keaktivan belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS kompetensi dasar atmosfer dan dampaknya terhadap kehidupan  kelas VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura. Keaktivan belajar pada siklus I menunjukkan persentase sebesar 71,95 sedangkan pada siklus II yaitu keaktivan belajar meningkat menjadi 95%.  2) Penggunaan model pembelajaran Guided Discovery-Inquiry dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS kompetensi dasar atmosfer  dan  dampaknya  terhadap  kehidupan     kelas  VII  G  SMP  Negeri  1
Kartasura.Pada  hasil  belajar  siklus  I  diperoleh  persentase  43,33%  sedangkan
pelaksanaan tindakan siklus II hasil belajar peserta didik menunjukkan persentase sebesar 87,50%.
The  purpose  of  this  reserch  are  (1)  Be  able  to  improve  the  increase activeness of learners in social studies basic competencies atmosphere and impact on the lives in class VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura,(2) Be able to improve the learning outcomes of learners in social studies basic competencies atmosphere and impact on the lives in class VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura.
The method of the reserch   is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research each cycle consisting of 4 stage, including planing, implementation, observation, and reflection.The subjects of the research is students of class VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura academic of the year 2014/2015 amounting to 32 students. The data collection in this research is the  observation, test, and documenttation. Data analysis technique used descriptive and comparative critical analysis techniques.
The result of this research are (1) the use of the model of Guided Discovery- Inquiry learning can enhance the activity of learners in social studies competencies basic atmosphere and  impact on the lives of the class VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura
. Activeness study in the first cycle indicates the percentage of 71.95 % while in the second cycle is learning activeness increased to 95 % .2 ) The use of models of Guided Discovery-Inquiry learning can improve student learning outcomes in social studies basic competencies atmosphere and impact on the lives of the class VII G SMP Negeri 1 Kartasura. In first cycle of learning outcomes obtained by percentage of 43.33 % while the implementation of the second cycle the study of students showed a percentage of 87.50%
