ABSTRACT
Background : One of the efforts to improve sucking success is through The Implementation of Early Initiation of Sucking (IMD) by the newborn on the mother. Indonesian Government supports WHO and UNICEF policy that recommends IMD as the act of "saving lives" because it is proven to reduce morbidity and infant mortality. The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of parity, mother’s knowledge, family support, and the role of health workers against the Implementation of IMD in RSUD Salatiga
Subjects and Methods : This study is a descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. The location is in RSUD Salatiga with the subjects are mothers who gave birth as many as 70 people with exhaustive sampling. The technique of collecting data used questionnaires. Data analysis used logistic regression
Result : There is a negative relationship between parity and Implementation of IMD, although statistically the relationship of both was not proven to be significant (OR=0.78, CI 95%= 0.16 to 3.75, p=0.753). There is a positive relationship between knowledge and Implementation of IMD, although statistically the relationship of both is approaching significant (OR= 3.62, CI 95%=0.64 to 20.59, p= 0.147). There is a negative relationship between family support and Implementation of IMD, although statistically the relationship of both was not significant (OR=0.51, CI 95%=0.11 to 2.45, p= 0.403). There is a positive relationship between the role of health workers and Implementation of IMD, and statistically the relationship of both proved to be significant (OR=34.27, CI 95% 3.82 to 307.46, p= 0.002).
Conclusion: There are two variables that are not significant, namely parity and family support. Meanwhile, two other variables, namely knowledge and the role of health workers proved to be significant to the Implementation of the IMD.
