ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana bentuk-bentuk, dampak dan upaya tindak kekerasan verbal dan non verbal oleh guru terhadap siswa di Sekolah Menengah Atas di Surakarta Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN Surakata.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan strategi studi kasus. Sumber data berasal dari angket, Focus Group Discussion, dan wawancara mendalam. Subyek penelitian yaitu siswa, guru dan wali murid. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model analisis interaktif yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian data serta penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tindak kekerasan oleh guru terhadap siswa di SMAN Surakarta masih saja terjadi baik dalam bentuk verbal maupun non verbal. Penelitian ini menemukan fakta bahwa terjadinya tindak kekerasan pada siswa merupakan bagian dari tindakan sosial secara rasional. Tindak kekerasan dilakukan karena seorang guru memiliki kekuasaan di sekolah sehingga dapat dengan leluasa melakukan berbagai tindakan untuk menertibkan siswa. Tindakan ini berdampak korban yaitu siswa yang melihat, mendengar dan mengalami tindak kekerasan. Upaya sekolah dilakukan untuk meminimalisir tindak kekerasan adalah dengan cara pembinaan guru dan penertiban siswa melalui tata tertib sekolah. Sampai pada saat ini belum terdapat tata tertib secara tertulis yang mencantumkan bahwa tindak kekerasan dilarang di sekolah. Mayoritas tindakan untuk meminimalisir kekerasan yang terjadi pada siswa dengan cara pembinaan antara guru dan siswa secara personal yang dilaksanakan di sekolah.
Berkaitan dengan teori tindakan sosial, tindak kekerasan termasuk dalam tipe tindakan sosial yang bersifat rasional instrumental yang akan dilakukan oleh seorang guru karena memiliki kekuasan untuk mencapai tujuan tertentu yaitu mendisiplinkan siswa.

ABSTRACT
This research aimed to know how the forms, impacts, and efforts of verbal and non-verbal violence act by the teacher towards the students of senior high school in Surakarta in the academic year 2014/2015. This research was conducted in the public senior high schools in Surakarta.
This research used descriptive qualitative approach with case study strategy. The source of the data came from questionnaire, Focus Group Discussion, and deep interview. The subjects of the research are students, teachers, and homeroom teachers. The data were analyzed using interactive analysis model that consists of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion, and verification.
Based on the result of the research, it shows that the violence act by the teacher towards the students of senior high school in Surakarta is still happened in the form of verbal or non-verbal act. This research finds out the fact that the violence act is happened as the part of rationally social act. The violence act is done because the teacher has power in the school, therefore, he can do many acts to discipline the students freely. The impact of this act is the students whom see, hear and get the violence become the victims. The efforts from the school to decrease the violence act are teacher coaching and students controlling through school regulation. Up until now, there is no written regulation about the restriction of violence act in school. The majority act to minimalize the violence act towards the students is personal coaching between the teacher and the students that is done in the school.
Related to the social act theory, violence act includes in rational instrumental social act that will be done by a teacher because he has the power to reach a particular purpose, that is to discipline the students.
