Supervisor II: Prof.Dr. Dwi Aries H., ST., Thesis: The Graduate Program in MechanicalEngineering, Sebelas Maret University 2015.ABSTRACTThe Cooling Load Calculation and Thermal Modeling for Vehicle byMATLAB were presented.From the load calculation, cooling capacity could becalculated,and thus ton of refrigeration required was found. The MATLAB/GUIwas used for estimating the heating and cooling loads encountered in a vehiclecabin. Models of heat transfer phenomena were used to calculate the differentload categories. Load calculation models weredesigned, and the data werecollected from various sources for load estimation.Case study of Honda Freedcar was introduced under arbitrary driving conditions. Simplified geometrytypical material properties of a Honda freed car were considered as inputparameters for studies. In the case study of Honda Freed Car, the engine,exhaust, and reflected radiation loads might be neglected from consideration. Onthe other hand, the direct and diffuse radiation loads were important AC loadsthat tend to give rise to the cabin temperature.The cabin temperature decreasedfrom a soak temperature of 24°C to the comfort temperature.Keywords: Cooling load, Cabin load, MATLAB, Air Conditioning System.
