ABSTRACTIn the construction industry, steel reinforced concrete is a construction material whichcommonly used in building structures that the concrete compressive strength and tensilestrength of the steel is a complimentary combination and easy made. However, the useofsteel as reinforcement still poses some constraints. The constraints are the rising priceof steel and it is categorized as nonrenewable mining products and someday willdefinitely run out. Therefore, bamboo was used as an alternative to steel because theprice is cheap and it is a renewable resource. One of the requirements in reinforcedconcrete structures is the presence of coherency between reinforcement and concrete, sowhen the concrete structure was loaded not caused slippage between reinforcement andconcrete. Because of that, it is necessary to research the bond strength of plain bambooreinforcement in normal concrete.The method in this study is an experimental laboratory. Test specimen is cylinderconcrete which its diameter and high was 15 cm and 30 cm. in the middle of testspecimen was buried a reinforcementwith 25 cm of depth. The reinforcements was plainsteel with 8 mm of its diameter and plain Ori, Petung, Wulung bamboo with 10x5.2 mmof its dimension. This test is performed in the Machine Laboratory, Faculty ofEngineering of SebelasMaret University (UNS), on the concentrate age of 28 days usingUniversal Testing Machine (UTM).Based on the analysis and test result, the average adhesive strength of plain bambooreinforcement of Petung was 0,051 MPa while the average adhesive plain steelreinforcement Ø 8 mm was 0,548MPa.Keyword: adhesive strength, plain steel, Petung bamboo, normal concrete
