ABSTRAKKemampuan menulis termasuk dalam jenis kemampuan produktif, karenamenulis berusaha memproduksi bahasa demi menyampaikan suatu gagasan.Selain itu, perlu memperhatikan aspek yang berkaitan dengan kemampuanmenulis seperti penggunaan diksi.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan antara:(1) penguasaan diksi dan kemampuan menulis narasi, (2) kebiasaan membaca teksnarasi di situs jejaring sosial facebook dan kemampuan menulis narasi, dan (3)penguasaan diksi dan kebiasaan membaca teks narasi di situs jejaring sosialfacebook secara bersama-sama dengan kemampuan menulis narasi.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN se-Kabupaten Pekalongan, mulaiFebruari sampai dengan Juni 2015. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalahmetode survei korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XSMAN se-Kabupaten Pekalongan Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Sampel berjumlah104 orang, diambil dengan cara multistage random sampling. Instrumen untukmengumpulkan data adalah tes kemampuan menulis narasi, tes penguasaan diksi,dan angket kebiasaan membaca teks narasi di situs jejaring sosial facebook.Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik statistik regresi dan korelasi(sederhana, ganda).Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: (1) ada hubungan positif antarapenguasaan diksi dan kemampuan menulis narasi (ry.1=0,79 dengan rtabelrt(5:104)=0,195). Hal ini signifikan karena hasil uji t menunjukan t1=13,01> tt =3,94dengan kontribusi 62,41%; (2) ada hubungan positif antara kebiasaan membacateks narasi di situs jejaring sosial facebook dan kemampuan menulis narasi(ry.2=0,74 dengan rtabel r(5:104)=0,195). Hal ini signifikan karena hasil uji tmenunjukan t2=11,11> tt=3,94 dengan kontribusi 54,76%; dan (3) ada hubunganpositif antara penguasaan diksi dan kebiasaan membaca teks narasi di situsjejaring sosial facebook secara bersama-sama dengan kemampuan menulis narasi(Ry.12=0,80 dengan Rtabel r(5:104)=0,195). Hal ini signifikan karena hasil uji Fmenunjukan Fo=87,08> Ft=3,09 dengan kontribusi 64,00%.Kata kunci: kemampuan menulis narasi, penguasaan diksi, kebiasaan membacateks narasi di situs jejaring sosial facebook.ABSTRACTWriting ability is included in the productive skills because it produceslanguage as to deliver a message. In addition, some aspects related to it, such asdiction use, need to be considered. The objective of this research is to investigate(1) the correlation between the diction mastery and the narrative writing ability;(2) the simultaneous correlation between the reading habit of narrative text onFacebook social media and the narrative writing ability; and (3) the correlation ofthe diction mastery and the reading habit of narrative text on the Facebook socialmedia to the narrative writing ability.This research was conducted at State Senior Secondary Schools ofPekalongan from February to June 2015. It used the correlational survey method.The population of research was all of the students in Grade X of State VocationalHigh Schools of Pekalongan Regency in Academic Year 2014/2015. The samplesof research consisted of 104 students. They were taken by using the multistagerandom sampling technique. The data of research were collected through test ofnarrative writing ability, test of diction mastery, and questionnaire of narrativetext reading habit on the Facebook social media. They were statistically analyzedby using the simple and multiple regression and correlation analyses.The results of research show that there is a positive correlation betweenthe diction mastery and the narrative writing ability as indicated by the value ofry.1=0.79 with that of rtable(5:104)=0.195m, and this is significant as the result of the ttest shows that the value of t1 = 13.01 is greater than that of ttable = 3.94 with thecontribution of 62.41%; (2) there is a positive correlation between the readinghabit of narrative text on the Facebook social media and the narrative writingability as shown by the value of ry.2=0.74 with that rtable r(5:104)=0.195), and this issignificant for the result of the t test shows that the value of t2 = 11.11 is greaterthan ttable = 3.94 with the contribution of 54.76%; and (3) there is a positivecorrelation of the diction mastery and the reading habit of narrative text on theFacebook social media to the narrative writing ability as signified by the value ofRy.12=0.80 with that of Rtable r(5:104)=0.195), and this is significant as the value ofFcount 87.08 is greater than that of Ft = 3.09 with the contribution of 64.00%.Keywords: Narrative writing ability, Diction mastery, Reading habit of narrativetext on facebook social media.
