ABSTRAKPenelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk: (1) meningkatkan kualitas prosespembelajaran menulis berita dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learning danmedia lingkungan sekolah dan (2) meningkatkan keterampilan menulis berita denganmenerapkan model Problem Based Learning dan media lingkungan sekolah pada siswakelas VIII C SMP Kristen 5 Surakarta. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada awal Januari 2015hingga akhir Juni 2015. Pendekatan penelitian adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjekpenelitian adalah guru dan siswa kelas VIII-C SMP Kristen 5 Surakarta. Data berupaRPP, foto, hasil tes, catatan lapangan, daftar nilai, dan catatan hasil wawancara. Sumberdata meliputi: informan, tempat dan proses pembelajaran, dan dokumen. Teknikpengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, tes, dan dokumen. Uji validitas datamenggunakan triangulasi metode dan triangulasi sumber data. Teknik analisis datadengan teknik analisis kritis dan teknik deskriptif komparatif. Indikator ketercapaiansebesar 84%. Prosedur penelitian meliputi persiapan, survei awal, pelaksanaan siklus,pengamatan, dan pelaporan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan modelProblem Based Learning dan penggunaana media lingkungan sekolah mampumeningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran menulis teks berita siswa yang ditandaidengan meningkatnya perhatian, keaktifan, dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Penelitianini juga menjelaskankan bahwa dengan menerapkan model Problem Based Learningdan penggunaan media lingkungan sekolah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulisteks berita siswa kelas VIII-C SMP Kristen 5 Surakarta. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasiltindakan yang dilakukan selama dua siklus. Pada pratindakan jumlah siswa yangmemperoleh nilai di atas KKM (75) 9 siswa (36%) dengan nilai rata-rata 66.00 Padasiklus I siswa tuntas meningkat menjadi 16 siswa (64%) dengan nilai rata-rata 73,60.Pada siklus II siswa yang mencapai KKM sebanyak 21 siswa (84%) dengan nilai ratarata76,40. Pada siklus II ini pencapaian nilai baik secara kualitas proses maupun hasiltelah mencapai ketuntasan yang lebih dari 80%. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkanbahwa pembelajaran menulis teks berita dengan model Problem Based Learning danpenggunaan media lingkungan sekolah dapat meningkatkan kualitas proses maupunkemampuan menulis siswa.Kata kunci: menulis teks berita, Problem Based Learning, lingkungan sekolah.ABSTRACTThe aims of this research were: (1) Improve the quality of the learning process ofwriting news by applying the model of Problem Based Learning and media schoolenvironment and (2) Improve the skills of news writing by applying a model of ProblemBased Learning and media school in class VIII C SMP Christian 5 Surakarta. Theexperiment was conducted at the beginning of January 2015 until the end of June 2015.The approach of this research is classroom action research. The subjects were teachersand students of class VIII-C Christian SMP 5 Surakarta. Data in the form of RPP,photo, test results, field notes, list of values, and record the interviews. Data sourcesinclude: informants, places and learning processes, and documents. The technique ofcollecting data through observation, interviews, tests, and documents. Test the validityof the data using triangulation methods and triangulation of data sources. Data analysistechniques with engineering critical analysis and comparative descriptive techniques.Indicators of achievement of 84%. Research procedure includes the preparation, theinitial survey, the implementation cycle, observations, and reporting. The resultsshowed that the application of the Problem Based Learning model and the using ofmedia school environment can improve the quality of the learning process studentswrite a text message that is marked by increasing attention , liveliness , and a feasibilitystudy. The study also shows that by applying the model of Problem Based Learning andmedia use the school environment can improve the ability to write text news - C classVIII SMP Christian 5 Surakarta . It can be seen from the results of the actionsperformed during two cycles . At the pre-test number of students scoring above theKKM ( 75 ) 9 students ( 36 % ) with an average value of 66.00 students completed thefirst cycle increased to 16 students ( 64 % ) with an average value of 73.60 . In thesecond cycle students who reach KKM many as 21 students ( 84 % ) with an averagevalue of 76.40 . In the second cycle is the achievement of value both in quality processand outcome has been reached thoroughness is more than 80 % . Therefore , it can beconcluded that the teaching of writing a text message to the model Problem BasedLearning and media use the school environment can improve the quality of process andwriting skills of students .Keywords : writing news text, Problem Based Learning , the school environment
