ABSTRAK
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) karakteristik produk modul biologi Berbasis Discovery learning pada materi bioteknologi untuk siswa kelas XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Magelang, (2) kelayakan prototipe modul biologi berbasis Discovery learning pada materi bioteknologi untuk siswa kelas XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Magelang, (3) keefektifan modul biologi berbasis Discovery learning pada materi bioteknologi terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XII IPA SMA Negeri 1 Magelang.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang mengadaptasi prosedur penelitian pengembangan dari Borg & Gall yang telah dimodifikasi. Untuk pengembangan modul mengadaptasi model ADDIE yaitu Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement dan Evaluate. Validasi dari prototipe produk pengembangan ini dilakukan oleh ahli materi, ahli pengembangan media, ahli perangkat pembelajaran, ahli bahasa, dan praktisi pembelajaran Biologi. Bertindak sebagai subyek uji coba terbatas adalah 6 siswa kelas XII SMAN 1 Sumberlawang dan 6 siswa kelas XII SMAN 3 Magelang. Subyek Uji coba lapangan dilakukan di SMAN 1 Magelang. Dalam melakukan penelitian untuk menentukan keefektifan modul, siswa kelas XII IPA 5 bertindak sebagai kelas modul, sedangkan siswa kelas XII IPA 4 bertindak sebagai existing class.
Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) karakteristik modul hasil pengembangan modul dilengkapi dengan basis model Discovery Learning, menekankan pada kerja sama kelompok dalam penemuan konsep bukan individu dan modul sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum 2013. (2) kelayakan prototipe modul masuk kategori sangat baik dengan hasil penilaian dari ahli materi 80.95%, ahli pengembangan media 91.07%, ahli bahasa 91.16%, ahli perangkat pembelajaran 84.52%, praktisi pembelajaran 85.42% dan siswa 85.42%; (3) modul hasil pengembangan ini efektif untuk memberdayakan hasil belajar dari aspek sosial, aspek pengetahuan dan aspek keterampilan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata aspek sosial dan keterampilan kelas modul yang lebih besar dari existing class. Selain itu, dari hasil t-test of Independent Sample untuk aspek pengetahuan, diperoleh nilai (Sig = 0.02) dengan one tail test sehingga skor (Sig = 0.02/2), hasilnya adalah 0.01= a, dengan nilai a = 0.05, maka H0 ditolak. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kelas yang menggunakan modul lebih baik daripada kelas yang tidak menggunakan modul.

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the characteristics of Discovery Learning –based Biology Module on the Biotechnoloy learning material of the students in Grade XII of Natural Science Program of State Senior Secondary School 1 of Magelang, (2) the feasibility of the prototype of Discovery Learning –based Biology Module on the Biotechnoloy learning material of the students in Grade XII of Natural Science Program of State Senior Secondary School 1 of Magelang; and (3) the effectiveness of Discovery Learning –based Biology Module on the Biotechnoloy learning material to the learning result of the students in Grade XII of Natural Science Program of State Senior Secondary School 1 of Magelang.
This research used the modified research and development (R&D) method adapted from Borg & Gall. The developed module employed ADDIE (Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) model. The prototype of product was validated by a learning material expert, a learning media expert, a learning instrument expert, a language expert, and practitioners of Biology learning. The subjects of limited testing were 6 students in Grade XII of State Senior Secondary School 1 of Sumberlawant and 6 students in Grade XII State Senior Secondary School 3 of Magelang. The field testing was conducted to the students in two different classes at State Senior Secondary School 1 of Magelang. They were the students in Grade XII of Natural Science Program 5 as the module class and those in Grade XII of Natural Science Program 4 as the existing class.
The result of this research are : (1) the characteristics of developed discovery learning-based Biology module are as follows: it does not emphasize on the individual but on the team work in the conceptual invention, and it is in accordance with the demand of the 2013 curriculum; (2) the feasibility of the developed module is classified into “the very good category” as indicated by the percentages of judgment, namely: 80.95% by learning material expert, 91.07% by a learning media expert, 91.16% by a language expert, 84.52% by practitioners of Biology learning, and 85.42% by student; and (3) the developed module is effective to empower the learning result in terms of social, knowledge, and skill as shown by the fact that the average scores of social, knowledge, and skill of the module class is greater than those of the existing class. In addition, the result of the independent t-test of the knowledge is sig = 0.02 with the one tail test of sig = 0.02/2 so that the score is 0.01 which is less than or equal to that of a = 0.05, meaning that H0 is rejected. Thus, the class which uses the module has a better learning result than the one that does not use the module.
