ABSTRAK
Tujuan penelitian dan pengembangan: 1) mengetahuikarakteristik modulberbasis PBL disertai open endeduntuk memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa,2) menguji kelayakanmodulberbasisPBL disertaiopenendeduntuk memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa; dan 3) menguji keefektivan modulberbasis PBL disertai open endeduntuk memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa.
Penelitian merupakan penelitian pengembangan (R&D) yang mengacu pada Borgand Gall (1983) yang termodifikasi. Sampel penelitian pengembangan meliputi: 1) sampel uji coba lapangan awal sejumlah 5 validator; 2) sampel uji coba lapangan utama sejumlah 10 siswa; dan sampel uji coba lapangan operasional sejumlah 32 siswa kelas VII A, SMP Negeri 2 Surakarta. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket, lembar observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Uji coba lapangan operasional menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design. Data kemampuan berpikir kreatif diuji dengan Uji-t dan dihitung dengan N-gain.
Hasil penelitian: 1) karakteristik modul disusun dengan tahapan PBL disertai open endeddengan sintaks: orientasi siswa terhadap masalah, mengorganisasi siswa dalam belajar pemecahan masalah, membimbing penyelidikan, mengembangkan dan mempersentasikan hasil karya, menganalisis dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah, yang menghasilkan produk berupa modul berbasis PBL disertai open endedpada materi Ekosistem; 2) kelayakan modul pembelajaran berbasis PBL disertai open endedoleh validator ahli menunjukkan kategori baik (3,37), oleh praktisi menunjukkan kategori baik (3,58), dan oleh siswa menunjukkan kategori baik (3,31); 3) uji efektivitas modul berbasis PBL disertai open ended menunjukkan efektif dan layak dalam memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dengan perolehan N-gain0,71-1.

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research were: 1) to find out the characteristics of module based on PBL with open endedto empower students’ creative thinking ability; 2) to investigate the feasibility of module based on PBL with open endedto empower students’ creative thinking ability; 3) to investigate the effectiveness of module based on PBL with open endedto empower students’ creative thinking ability.
This study R&D based on Borg and Gall’s (1983) modified model. The sample of research and development include: 1) field trial samples consisting of 5 valuators’; 2) main field trial sample (consisting of 15 students), and operational field trial (sample consisting of 32 students). The instruments employed were questionnaire, observation sheet, interview and test. The operational field trial was conducted using one group pretest-posttest design. Data of creative thinking ability were tested with t-Test and calculated with N-gain.
Result of research that: 1) module characteristic that was arranged with PBL and open ended method covers the following stages: students' oriented towards the problem faced, organizing the students to solve the problem, guiding the observation, developing and representing the result study, analyzing and evaluating the process of the problem solving, those all produced a module based on PBL with open ended method in ecosystem materials; 2) the properness of this learning module based on PBL with open ended by validator showed good category with value of 3,37, by practitioner showed good category with value 3, 58, and by students showed good category with value 3,31; 3) the effectiveness of module based on PBL with open endedmethod showed that it was effective and proper in empowering creative thinking ability with the achievement N-gain 0,71-1.
