ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Remaja memerlukan kecerdasan emosional agar tidak terlibat dalam kenakalan remaja, terutama penyalahgunaan narkoba. Data BNN menunjukkan terdapat 2.106 kasus narkoba pada tahun 2012. Keluarga adalah lingkungan dasar bagi perkembangan emosional dan aspek penting dalam hubungan orang tua dan anak adalah pola asuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tipe pola asuh orang tua dengan kecerdasan emosional remaja.
Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian observasional analitik dengan metode pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. Sampel 122 siswa dengan menggunakan metode proportional random sampling. Kedua variabel menggunakan Instrument penelitian angket dengan skala Likert. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Lambda.
Hasil: Terdapat 90 responden (75%) diasuh dengan pola asuh authoritative dan terdapat 63responden (52,5%) memiliki kecerdasan emosional tinggi. Analisis hubungan antara tipe pola asuh orang tua dengan kecerdasan emosional remaja adalah P=0.035 dan r=0,695.
Kesimpulan: Ada hubungan antara Tipe Pola Asuh Orang Tua dengan Kecerdasan Emosional Remaja di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta.

ABSTRACT
Background: Adolescents require an emotional intelligence so that they are not involved in juvenile, especially is drug abuse. The data of National Narcotics Agency show that there were narcotic 2.106 cases in 2012. Family is the primary environment for the emotional development, and the important aspect of the correlation between the parents and their children is the parenting type employed.
Objective: To investigate the correlation between the parenting type and the adolescents’ emotional intelligence.
Method: This research used the observational analytical method with the cross sectional approach. The population of research was the students as many as 122 of Muhammadiyah Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta. The samples of research consisted of 122 and were taken by using the proportionate random sampling technique. The data of the two variables of research were collected through questionnaire with Likert Scale. They were analyzed by using the the Lambda Correlation Coefficient.
Result: 90 respondents (75%) were exposed to authoritative parenting type, and 63 respondents (52.5%) had a high emotional intelligence. Analysis the correlation between the parenting type and the adolescents’ emotional are p-value =0.035 and the r-value = 0.695.
Conclusion: There was a correlation between the parenting type and the adolescents’ emotional intelligence of Muhammadiyah Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta.
