ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang : Metode role playing dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi sebesar 18,9%. Hasil ujian OSCA ketrampilan komunikasi dan konseling mahasiswa DIII Kebidanan STIKES PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta tahun akademik 2013/2014 terdapat 53% mahasiswa yang belum lulus. Mata kuliah pelayanan keluarga berencana menuntut kemampuan komunikasi dan konseling yang optimal.
Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran role playing terhadap ketrampilan komunikasi konseling pelayanan keluarga berencana pada mahasiswa DIII Kebidanan STIKES PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta
Metode : Desain penelitian quasi eksperimental dengan pendekatan posttest only control group design. Jumlah sampel masing-masing yang digunakan untuk kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan adalah 30 mahasiswa. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan checklist dari MTKP. Analisa data mengunakan independent t-test, dengan bantuan SPSS.
Hasil Penelitian : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai posttest kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan adalah 77,67 dan 86,30. Hasil independent t-test, nilai p adalah 0.001(p<0,05), hal ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna antara kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan.
Kesimpulan : Hasil analisis data tersebut membuktikan penggunaan metode role playing dapat meningkatkan ketrampilan komunikasi dan konseling pelayanan keluarga berencana..

ABSTRACT
Background: Role playing method could improve the communication skills as much as 18.9%. The result of OSCA test on the communication and counseling skills of the students of Diploma III in Midwifery Science of PKU Muhammadiyah Health College of Surakarta in Academic Year 2013/2014 shows that 53% of the students did not pass the test. The course of Family Planning Services requires the communication and counseling ability optimally.
Objective: To investigate the effect of the use of role-playing learning method on the communication and counseling skills on family planning services of the students of Diploma III in Midwifery Science of PKU Muhammadiyah Health College of Surakarta.
Method: This research used the quasi experimental method with the posttest only control group design. Its samples consisted of 30 students divided into the control group and the experimental group. The data of research were collected through checklists of Provincial Assembly of Health Workers. The data of research were analyzed by using the independent t-test aided with the computer program of SPSS.
Result: The result of research shows that the post-test average scores of the control group and the experimental group were 77.67 and 86.30 respectively. The independent t-test shows that the p-value was 0.001(p<0.05), indicating that there was a significant difference of communication and counseling skills of family planning services between the control group and the experimental group.
Conclusion: The use of role-playing method could improve the communication and counseling skills of family planning services.
