ABSTRAK
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah penerapan model Concept Sentence dengan media gambar seri, (2) untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan, (3) untuk mendeskripsikan kendala dan solusi penerapan model Concept Sentence dengan media gambar seri dalam peningkatan keterampilan menulis karangan pada siswa kelas IV SDN 2 Kalirancang tahun ajaran 2014/2015.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus, dengan tiap siklus terdiri atas perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SDN 2 Kalirancang yang berjumlah 21 siswa. Data berasal dari siswa, guru kelas IV, observer, dan dokumen. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu melalui tes hasil belajar, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumen. Validitas data menggunakan teknik triangulasi sumber dan teknik pengumpulan data. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data kuantitatif dan analisis data kualitatif, meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) langkah penerapan model Concept Sentence dengan media gambar seri dalam peningkatan keterampilan menulis karangan pada siswa kelas IV SDN 2 Kalirancang tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang tepat yaitu: (a) penyampaian kompetensi, (b) penyajian materi pembelajaran dan menjelaskan media gambar seri, (c) pembentukan kelompok secara heterogen, (d) pemberian LKS, (e) penyajian beberapa kata kunci, (f) pemberian tugas untuk membuat kalimat, (g) pemanduan diskusi kelompok, (h) pembuatan kesimpulan, (i) penutup, (2) adanya peningkatan keterampilan menulis karangan yaitu pada siklus I ketuntasannya 60,40%, siklus II ketuntasannya 81,58%, dan siklus III ketuntasannya 95%, (3) Kendala yang ditemui yaitu: (a) guru belum hafal langkah penerapan model Concept Sentence dengan media gambar seri, (b) guru sulit meninggalkan kebiasaan menggunakan metode ceramah, (c) pengelolaan kelas belum maksimal, (d) siswa kurang aktif, (e) siswa kurang menerima pembagian kelompok, (f) siswa gaduh saat akan menyampaikan hasil diskusi, dan (g) guru dan siswa kurang maksimal dalam pembuatan kesimpulan. Solusi yang peneliti lakukan yaitu: (a) peneliti memberi penjelasan langkah penerapan model Concept Sentence dengan media gambar seri, (b) guru mengurangi metode ceramah, (c) guru meningkatkan pengelolaan kelas, (d) memberi motivasi dan penguatan pada siswa, (e) memberi pengertian pada siswa, (f) guru meningkatkan pengkondisian kelas, dan (g) mengajak siswa membuat kesimpulan dengan baik.
Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penerapan model Concept Sentence dengan media gambar seri dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan pada siswa kelas IV SDN 2 Kalirancang Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015.

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe the steps of Concept Sentence model through image series media, (2) to improve essay writing skills, and (3) to describe the problems and solutions of the implementation of Concept Sentence model through image series media in improving essay writing skills for the fourth grade students of SDN 2 Kalirancang in the academic year of 2014/2015.
This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in three cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were all fourth graders of SDN 2 Kalirancang amounting to 21 students. The sources of data were students, fourth grade teacher, observer, and document. The data collection techniques were the achievement test, observation, interview guidance, and document. The validity of the data used triangulation sources and triangulation data collection techniques. Data analysis used quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing or verification.
The results show that (1) the appropriate steps of Concept Sentence model through image series media in improving essay writing skills for the fourth grade students of SDN 2 Kalirancang in the academic year of 2014/2015 were: (a) explaining the competence, (b) the presentation of learning materials and explain image series media, (c) heterogeneous group formation, (d) giving students worksheets, (e) the presentation of some keywords, (f) giving task to make sentences, (g) guiding groups discussions, (h) making conclusions, and (i) closing, (2) there is an improvement on essay writing skills that the passing grade of the first cycle is 60.40%, the passing grade of the second cycle is 81.58%, and the passing grade of the third cycle is 95%, (3) the problems faced are: (a) teachers have not memorized the application step Concept Sentence models through image series media, (b) teachers were difficult in using the lecture method, (c) classroom management was not maximized, (d) students were less active, (e) students did not accept the division of the group, (f) students were noisy when presenting the results of the discussion, and (g) teachers and students were not maximum in making conclusions. The solutions of the problems are (a) researchers explain the application steps of Concept Sentence models through image series media, (b) reduce the teacher lectures, (c) the teacher improve classroom management, (d) provide motivation and reinforcement to the students, (e) gives understanding to the students, and (f) teachers improve classroom condition, and (g) invites the students to make inferences properly.
The conclusion of this research is the implementation of Concept Sentence model through image series media can improve essay writing skills for the fourth grade students of SDN 2 Kalirancang in the academic year of 2014/2015.
