ABSTRACTThe objectives of this research are to reveal whether: (1) Everyone is aTeacher Here (ETH) strategy is more effective than Expository Teachingstrategy to teach speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in theAcademic Year of 2014/2015; (2) The students having high self-actualizationhave better speaking skill than those having low self-actualization at the eleventhgrade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2014/2015; and (3) There-actualization inteaching speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo in the AcademicYear of 2014/2015.The research method was experimental research. The research wasconducted at SMAN 6 Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. Thepopulation of the research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 6Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. There were 6 classes consisting of195 students. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling. The classXI IPS-3 was used as the experimental class and class XI IPS-2 as the controlclass. The instruments of collecting data were self-actualization questionnaireand speaking test. The two instruments were valid and reliable after both weretried out. The data then were analyzed by using ANOVA 2x2 and continued byusing Tukey test.The result of data analysis shows that: (1) Everyone is a Teacher Here(ETH) strategy is more effective than Expository Teaching strategy to teachspeaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo; (2) The students whohave high self-actualization have better speaking skill than those who have lowself-actualization at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo; and (3) There is-actualization inteaching speaking at the eleventh grade of SMAN 6 Purworejo.Based on the result of the research, this research implies that teachingstrategies have a strong effect implementation ofEveryone is a Teacher Here (ETH) strategy gives greater effect than ExpositoryTeaching strategy in teaching speaking. It is hoped that the result of the studycan be useful for the teachers to determine appropriate teaching strategy for theirstudents.Keywords: Everyone is a Teacher Here (ETH) Strategy, Expository TeachingStrategy, Speaking, Self-actualization, and Experimental Study.
