ABSTRACT
This thesis is written to find outthe errors made by the students in writing narrative textand to find outthe causes of errors made by the students in writing narrative text.
This research is descriptive research, carried out from January to April 2015. The population of this research was the students of class XII IPA 2 SMA Al Islam 1 Surakartain the academic year of 2015/2016. This research consisted of several stages, including: collecting the data, identifying errors from the students writing, describing the errors explaining the errors, and evaluating the errors.The research data were collected by conducting test. The test was used to obtain the data of errors. After the data were gained, those were analyzed through error analysis.
The researcher reveals 352 errors which are divided into four categories. Error of omission appears with the percentage 23.6%, error of addition appears with the percentage 0.9%, error of misformation appears with the percentage 75.3%, and error of misordering appears with the percentage 1%. The students made those errors because of influencesinterlingual error with 238 errors and intralingual error with 114 errors.
