ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at describing successful students in learning English
as a foreign language in the Light of Affective Factors in SMPIT Ibnu Abbas
Klaten. It was carried out at SMPIT Ibnu Abbas Klaten.
This study is qualitative research. It was carried out at SMPIT Ibnu Abbas
Klaten. The data of the research are document analysis, observation, and result
interview. From the data collection, a set of data or information about successful
English students in learning English at SMP IT Ibnu Abbas are gained. From the
data that is analyzed using constant comparative method, some research findings
are obtained.
The result of this study can be concluded into three, firstly, the affective
factors that much influence on the successful English students are the
motivation, the attitude and self concepts. Secondly, behaviors implemented
influence students raised behavioral learning English. Thirdly, the affective
factors can influence the successful English students by having high motivation
that can drive the students study English harder, having positive attitude students
can modify their positive response to all English processes and having positive
self concept students are motivated to view English as challenge. Other result of
the research is that Game has positive effects on academics achievements.
The conclusion of the research is affective factors among successful
English students play important role in making them successful learning English.
The good affective factors influence much on their success of learning English.
The high motivation influences the highly getting English achievements, the
positive personal traits and positive attitudes make students having good mood
and atmosphere to respond all situations and the conditions even the learning
process. These positive personal traits and attitude support much on how high the
motivation the students have in running their English learning. Then the good self
concept of the students arise when they have high motivation, positive personal
traits and attitude toward English. The motivation drives students on how high the
effort do to get English achievements. While positive personal traits support much
on how students see and feel the English learning process. The positive attitude
toward English helps students much on how they deeply respond on the teaching
learning process. The last good self concept the students have supported on how
well they perform as English students.
