ABSTRAKTujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui metode story readingdapat meningkatkan pengenalan membaca anak di Bustanul Athfal Aisyiyah Waru IIBaki Sukoharjo.Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dan terdiri dari2 siklus. Setiap siklus dilaksanakan 4 tahap yaitu perencanaan (planning), tindakan(action), observasi (observing) dan refleksi (reflecting). Empat langkah utama yangsaling berkaitan itu disebut satu siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilaksanakandengan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, penugasan atau unjuk kerja. Validitasdata menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi metode. Analisis data yangdigunakan peneliti adalah deskripstif komparatif dan analisis kuantitatif dilanjutkananalisis interaktif.Hasil Peningkatan pengenalan membaca tersebut dapat dibuktikan denganmeningkatnya nilai pengenalan membaca pada setiap siklusnya sebelum tindakankelas rata- rata pengenalan membaca anak 62,5%, siklus I nilai rata- rata pengenalanmembaca anak 75% dan siklus II nilai rata- rata 87,5% pengenalan membacaanak.Tingkat ketuntasan belajar anak pada kondisi awalsebanyak 6 anakatau 62,5%,12 anakatau 75%pada siklus I dan 14 anakatau 87,5% padasiklus II.
