ABSTRAK
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara melalui
penerapan pendekatan saintifik pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Laweyan No. 54
Surakarta tahun ajaran 2014/2015.
Bentuk penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan
berlangsung dalam tiga siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu
perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini
adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Laweyan No. 54 Surakarta tahun ajaran
2014/2015 berjumlah 37 siswa yang terdiri dari 16 siswa laki-laki dan 21 siswa
perempuan. Sumber data berasal dari guru kelas, siswa dan dokumen resmi.
Pengumpulan data digunakan wawancara, observasi, tes unjuk kerja, dan kajian
dokumen. Validitas data yang digunakan adalah triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi
metode. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model analisis interaktif yang terdiri
dari tiga komponen, yaitu reduksi data, sajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan
(verifikasi).
Hasil penelitian tindakan kelas ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata
keterampilan berbicara siswa pada kondisi awal, yaitu 71,46 dengan persentase
ketuntasan klasikalnya hanya 13 siswa atau 35,14%. Pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata
kelas meningkat mencapai 73,03 dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikalnya 20
siswa atau 54,05%. Setelah tindakan pada siklus II, nilai rata-rata kelas meningkat
menjadi 78,92 dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal 29 siswa atau 78,38%.
Akhirnya, pada siklus III, nilai rata-sata kelas menjadi 84,38 dengan ketuntasan
klasikal 33 siswa atau 89,19%.
Pada siklus I aspek pelafalan sudah cukup jelas, intonasinya masih
kurang jelas, berbicaranya kurang lancar, ketepatan penggunaan kalimatnya
kurang baik, dan dalam berbicara mengenai suatu gambar siswa dapat
menjelaskan sesuai dengan gambar yang diamati. Pada siklus II mulai ada
peningkatan pada aspek intonasi yang cukup tepat, berbicaranya cukup lancar, dan
ketepatan penggunaan kalimatnya sudah cukup baik. Pada siklus III kelima aspek
mengalami peningkatan, aspek pelafalan sudah jelas, intonasinya sudah tepat,
berbicaranya sudah lancar, ketepatan penggunaan kalimatnya sudah baik, dan
dalam berbicara mengenai suatu gambar siswa dapat menjelaskan sangat sesuai
dengan gambar yang diamati.
Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan pendekatan saintifik dapat
meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Laweyan
No. 54 Surakarta tahun ajaran 2014/2015.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to improve the speaking skill through the
application of scientific approach in the fourth grade students of SD Negeri
Laweyan No. 54 Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/2015.
The form of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) and it
was conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely
planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this research were the
fourth grade students of SD Negeri Laweyan No. 54 Surakarta in the academic
year of 2014/2015, amounted about 37 students which consist of 16 male students
and 21 female students. The data of the research were obtained from the teacher of
the fourth grade, students, and official documents. The data of the research were
gathered trough interviews, observations, performance testing, and content
analysis. The data were validated by using the source triangulations and the
method triangulations. The technique of analyzing data use the interactive analysis
model consists of three components, namely data reduction, data display, and
conclucion or verification.
The result of this research showed that the average score of students
speaking skill in the initial conditions or before action was 71,46 with the
percentage of classical completeness only 13 students or 35,14%. In the first
cycle, the average score of the class increased to 73,03 with the percentage of
classical completeness 20 students or 54,05%. After the action in the second
cycle, the average score of the class increased to 78,92 with the percentage of
classical completeness 29 students or 78,38%. Finally, in the third cycle, the
average score of the class become 84,38 with the percentage of classical
completeness 33 students or 89,19%.
In the fisrst cycle the pronunciation aspect is quite clear, the intonation is
less clear, the speaking is less speech, the precision of the use of the sentences is
not good, and when talking about an image the students can explain the observed
image. In the scond cycle, the intonation is quite right, the speaking is quite
speech, and the precision of the use of the sentences is guite good. In the third
cycle, all aspect is increasing. The pronunciation aspect and the intonation are
clear, the speaking is speech, the precission of the use of the sentences is good,
and in talking about an image the students can explain the observed image.
The conclusion from this research is the application of scientific
approach can improve the speaking skill in the fourth grade students of SD Negeri
Laweyan No. 54 Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/2015.
