ABSTRAK
Penelitian dan pengembangan modul ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui karakteristik produk modul biologi berbasis inquiry real world application pada materi Bioteknologi;2) menguji kelayakan prototype modul biologi berbasis inquiry real world application pada materi Bioteknologi; dan 3) menguji keefektifan modul biologi berbasis inquiry real world application pada materi Bioteknologi dalam memberdayakan hasil belajar siswa.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan memodifikasi model Borg & Gall (1983). Prosedur penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi penelitian pendahuluan, perencanaan, pengembangan prototype produk, validasi prototype produk, revisi prototype produk, uji keterbacaan, revisi produk, uji coba produk, revisi produk akhir.Pengembanganprototype modul menggunakan desain ADDIE (analyze, design,develop, implement, evaluate).Prototypemodul biologi berbasis inquiry real world application divalidasi oleh4 orang validatoryaitu ahli materi, ahli pengembangan modul, ahli bahasa dan ahli perangkat pembelajaran. Subyek uji keterbacaan modul guru adalah 3 praktisi pendidikan di Kota Magelang. Subyek uji keterbacaan modul siswa adalah 12 siswa kelas XII SMANegeri 3 Magelang. Subyek uji coba produk adalah siswa kelas XIISMA Negeri 1 Magelang. Kelas XII IA1 sebagai kelas modul melaksanakan pembelajaran menggunakan modul berbasis inquiry real world application. Kelas XII IA 4 sebagai existing class melaksanakan pembelajaran secara konvensional. Data hasil validasi dan uji keterbacaan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Data hasil belajar dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif.
Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan menunjukkan: 1) karakteristik produk modul berbasis inquiry real world application dikembangkan berdasarkan sintaks inquiry real world application, meliputi: observation, manipulation, generalization, verification dan application;2) kelayakan prototypemodul berbasis inquiry real world application menurut para ahli berkualifikasi “sangat baik”. Hasil uji keterbacaan modul guru oleh praktisi pendidikan berkategori sangat baik. Hasil uji keterbacaan modul siswa berkategori “baik”;3) modul berbasis inquiryreal world application efektif memberdayakan hasil belajar materi Bioteknologi pada aspek spiritual dengan pencapaian sebesar 79,81, aspek sikap sosial dengan pencapaian 89,06,aspek keterampilandengan pencapaian 92,1, aspek pengetahuan siswa dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 84,10.Berdasarkan hasil uji independent sample t-testmenunjukkan adanya perbedaanhasil belajar aspek pengetahuanyang siginfikan antara kelas modul dengan existingclassyang ditunjukkan oleh nilai THitung 0,042< TTabel0,05. Kesimpulan penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah produk modul yang dihasilkan layak digunakan dan efektif memberdayakan hasil belajar siswa.

ABSTRACT
The objectives of this research are to: 1) describe characteristics of inquiry real world application-based biology module of Biotechnology learning material; 2) investigate the feasibility of the prototype module of inquiry real world application-based biology; and 3) investigaet the effectiveness of inquiry real world application-based biology module of Biotechnology learning material to empower the students’ learning result.
This research used the modified research and development (R & D) claimed by Borg & Gall model (1983). Its procedure included preliminary research, planning, module prototype development, product validation, revision of product, readability testing, advanced revision of product, product testing, product final revision of product. The development of the module prototype used the ADDIE (analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate) model. The prototype was validated by four experts, namely: a learning material expert, a module development expert, a language expert, a learning instrument expert. The subjects of readability testing of the developed teacher’smodule were 3 education practitioners in Magelang. The subjects of readability testing of the developed student module were 12 students in Grade X II of State Secondary High School 3 of Magelang. The subjects of the product testing were the students in Grade XII of State Secondary High School 1 of  Magelang. They included the students in Grade IA1 as the module class instructed with the developed module and those in Grade IA4 as the existing classexposed to the conventional learning. Data were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative methods.
The results of research are as follows: 1) The inquiry real world application-based biology module is developed based on the syntax of inquiry real world application. It includes observation, manipulation, generalization, verification, and application; 2) the feasibility of the developed module is classified into the “very good” category by the experts; the readability of the teacher’s module is classified into the “very good” category by the practitioners, and    the readability of the student’s module is classified into “good” category;  3) The developed module is effective to empower the learning result in Biotechnology. The average scores of the spiritual, social, skill aspects are 79.81, 89.06, and 84.10 respectively. The result of the independent sample t-test shows that there is a significant difference of the learning result in the knowledge aspect between the module class and the existing as indicated by the value of Tcount =0.042< Ttable = 0.05. The conclusionsof research are the developed modulefeasible and effective to empower the learning result.
