ABSTRAK
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar IPS melalui penerapan model pembelajaran observasional pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Soropadan Laweyan Surakarta tahun ajaran 2014/2015.
Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri Soropadan Laweyan Surakarta tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang berjumlah 34 siswa. Sumber data berasal dari siswa kelas V, guru kelas V, observasi kegiatan pembelajaran, hasil angket, dan dokumen. Untuk mengumpulkan data digunakan angket, observasi, tes, wawancara, dan kajian dokumen. Validitas data yang digunakan adalah validitas konstruksi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis interaktif, diskriptif komparatif dan analisis kritis.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa motivasi belajar IPS siswa meningkat setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran observasional. Pada prasiklus, skor rata-rata sebesar 13,80 (sedang), siklus I sebesar 14,40 (tinggi), siklus II sebesar 15,90 (tinggi), dan siklus III 17,20 (sangat tinggi). Skor maksimal 20. Selain itu diperoleh data persentase ketuntasan klasikal motivasi belajar IPS prasiklus sebesar 20,60% (7 siswa), di siklus I meningkat menjadi sebesar 29,40% (10 siswa), siklus II meningkat lagi menjadi sebesar 41,20% (14), dan pada siklus III meningkat kembali menjadi sebesar 70,60% (24 siswa).
Simpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran observasional dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar IPS pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Soropadan Laweyan Surakarta tahun ajaran 2014/2015.

ABSTRACT
The aim of this research is to improve the student’s motivation to learn social studies through the application of observational learning models in grade five of SDN Soropadan Laweyan Surakarta academic year 2014/2015.
This is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four steps: plan, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were the fifth grade students of SDN Soropadan Laweyan Surakarta academic year 2014/2015 consisting of 34 students. The sources of data were the students, the fifth grade teacher, observation of learning process, the result of questionnaire and documents. The data were collected through observation, assessment, deep interview and documentation. The data validity use construct validity. The technique of the data analysis was interactive analysis, comparative description, and critical analysis.
The result of this research indicated that the average score of the student’s motivation to learn social studies was increased. Before the cycle, the average score was 13,80 (medium), in the first cycle it was 14,40 (high), in the second cycle it was 15,90 (high), and in the third cycle it was 17,20 (very high). The maximum score is 20. Besides, the classical passing grade of the student’s motivation to learn social studies was 20,60% (7 students) before the cycle, in the first cycle it was increase to 29,40% (10 students), in the second cycle it was increase to 41,20% (14 students) and in the third cycle it was increase to 70,60% (24 students).
The conclusion of this research shows that through the implementation of observational learning models can improve the student’s motivation to learn social studies at the fifth grade of SDN Soropadan Laweyan Surakarta in the academic year of 2014/2015.
